Now, before I get a big "What The Fuck????", check it out.The Highwaymen not only shares a namesake with your favorite blog...but if you listen the lyrics, they are about reincarnation and outer space...two subjects that are of interest to your LostHighway9 chief.Only two members of the group are still alive....but they will be around again, and again....
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.
I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around
I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again..
This is my all time favorite funky breaks cut...Here's Mickey Finn with"She's Breaking Up(Bionic Man)".My old friend DJ Norm used to play this at Sound Factory, and the crowd would go apeshit.
Here is "Mr.Kirk", by 4Hero...an homage to Captain James T. Kirk..this shit still bumps even today....

I know he had bigger hits...But TTD really came through for me with this one.I stole these lyrics and wrote them as a little note to this chick back in 199...something,and it worked pretty well.So that was the only time your LostHighway9 chief could be accused of plagerism.
Jane Wiedland from the Go Gos had a cool little side project with Sparks...Here is "Cool Places".Our younger readers may recognize the dance they are doing as "The Carlton".
Tonight, I bring you a double shot of one of the greatest art school drop out bands ever...The Talking Heads. This clip is only a glimpse of what was to come...The Tom Tom Club.We will go into that tomorrow, but for now enjoy David Byrne's performance in "Once In A LifeTime".
Ok..Here is where the Heads REALLY get down.Big Suit....check. Killer bassline....check. Weird, Lynch inspired lyrics...check.Here is "Girlfriend Is Better" from the DVD "Stop Making Sense".

Here's Persia White and her band XE03. Many readers may recognize her from her role on TV's "Girlfriends" sitcom...but she seems to be pretty cool.Check out "Strange Fruit".

Classic Boom Bap era Hip Hop from Guru and Primo.
Verse One: Guru
No way you'll never make it
Come with the weak shit I break kids
Step into my zone mad rhymes will stifle ya
Lines like rifles go blast when I kick some ass
A lot of rappers be like one time wonders
Couldn't say a fly rhyme if there was one right under
Their noses I hate those motherfuckin posers
But I'm so real to them it's scary
And with my unique skills nag you can't compare me
And no we don't make wack tracks
and all the suckers get pushed back when I'm kickin real facts
I represent set up shit like a tent boy
You're paranoid cause you're my son like Elroy
And you'd be happy as hell to get a record dal
Maybe your soul you'd sell to have mass appeal
Verse Two:
Oh yes I'm greater than all MC's when I breeeze give me room please
I be like fascinatin when I be updatin
Cuttin off wack kids, pullin their trump cards
I thump hard, and mak eem say that I'm God
Niggaz be pretendin they hardcore
Never know the meaning of [real hardcore]
But I get props like a slogan and no man
Could ever try to diss when I kicks my jam
Lyrically def and connecting complete mic wrecking
No double checking vocals kill like weapons
But if I have to I go all out with no mic
Yeah that's right cause I survived mad fights
And for my peeps I truly care
Cause without some of them I wouldn't be here
And they all know how I feel
Cause suckers be like playin themselves to have mass appeal
Verse Three:
I know I'm dope but don't wet that
I've suffered setbacks but now I'm makin greenbacks
Just like baggy slacks I'm crazy hip-hop
Check one two and you don't stop
Your head'll bop when I drop my crop
of pure bomb, just like the seashore I'm calm
But wild, with my monotone style
Because I don't need gimmicks
Gimme a fly beat and I'm all in it
Word is bond I go on and on
For you it's tragic I got magic like wands
So I'ma end this lecture and I betcha
Those who kick dirt and do time I'm gonna get cha
Cause I be kickin the real
While they be losin the race tryin to chase mass appeal
Allow me to introduce Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. This is one of the tightest bands performing live today. As you may know, your LostHighway9 creator is somewhat of a recluse..but if this group comes to town...I am there.
OK...The LostHighway9 Time Machine is back online! As it travels through time and space, it captured this footage of Elvis when he was on some serious shit. Also included is the Dead Kennedys version!"Viva Las Vegas"!
Bright light city gonna set my soul
Gonna set my soul on fire
Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn,
So get those stakes up higher
There's a thousand pretty women waitin' out there
And they're all livin' devil may care
And I'm just the devil with love to spare
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas
How I wish that there were more
Than the twenty-four hours in the day
'Cause even if there were forty more
I wouldn't sleep a minute away
Oh, there's black jack and poker and the roulette wheel
A fortune won and lost on ev'ry deal
All you need's a strong heart and a nerve of steel
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas with you neon flashin'
And your one armbandits crashin'
All those hopes down the drain
Viva Las Vegas turnin' day into nighttime
Turnin' night into daytime
If you see it once
You'll never be the same again
I'm gonna keep on the run
I'm gonna have me some fun
If it costs me my very last dime
If I wind up broke up well
I'll always remember that I had a swingin' time
I'm gonna give it ev'rything I've got
Lady luck please let the dice stay hot
Let me shout a seven with ev'ry shot
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas,
Viva, Viva Las Vegas
Here is one of my favorite goth/rock chicks of all time,Tobey Torres and Snake River Conspiracy hit hard with "Vulcan"!
From LostHighway9 contributer JayStats, comes the long awaited return of John Rambo. The violence and gore in this trailer is a welcome return to the hard"R" rated flicks of the 80s.Watch as Rambo uses a .50 caliber mounted gun at point blank range! Also of note, Stallone was arrested(and released) at the Puerto Vallarta customs office because he had a shitload of steroids in his bags.
He didnt try to deny it...he just told them he needs it to keep his yokes on since he is 60+ years old.
Have you ever wanted to see The Red Hot Chili Peppers wearing platinum grills? Well...heres your chance.....

Ministry rock out with a cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy".
She sits alone, waiting for sugestions.
He so nervous, avoiding all the questions.
His lips are dry, her heart's gently pounding
Don't ya just know exactly what they're thinking?
[chorus]
If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon sugar let me know!
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon honey tell me
so!
He's acting shy, lookin for an answer
C'mon honey, let's spend the night together.
Now hold on a minute, before we go much further,
Give me a buck, so I can buy a rubber.
They catch a cab to his high-rise apartment,
At last he could tell her exactly what his means
If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon honey tell me so!
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon sugar let me
know!
Woof woof!
His heart's beating like a drum, cuz at last he's got this girl home.
Ohhh... Relax baby, now we're all alone.
[distorted chorus]
They wake at dawn, while all the birds are singin.
Two total strangers, but that aint what they're thinking
Outside it's cold, it's misty and it's rainy
They've got eachother, neither one's complaining
He says I'm sorry but I'm out of KY jelly
Never mind sugar, we can catch the early movie
If you want my body, and you think I'm sexy, c'mon sugar let me know!
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me, c'mon honey tell me
so!
I know,I know..."Why is Fleetwood Mac on LostHighway9????"Because they were good, that's why.The hooks and melodies on this cut set a lot of the groundwork for todays pop music.Don't Hate...Celebrate!
This is SwitchBlade Symphony. I saw them at a show back in 98.They were pretty good industrial/goth band.
Your LostHighway9 creator has dated quite a few Goth/Mod type chicks....One common thing amongst them was they all dig The Cure.
Great Jazz solos from Spike Lee's "Mo Better Blues".I'm not the big Jazz fan,but anyone who likes music will dig this.

Summer trek also nabs Doug E. Fresh and Dana Dane; West Coast run featuring Mack 10 and DJ Quik also in the works.
Looking to show some love to hip-hop's heyday, a New Jersey-based firm has teamed up with one-time Rakim partner Eric B. to launch two tours of old-school artists.
The East Coast version, dubbed The Legends Tour, will feature Big Daddy Kane, Whodini, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and DJ Hot Day, and will be hosted by Dana Dane.
The jaunt is set to kick off in August, with dates and venues to be announced. DJ Quik and Mack 10 will headline a separate West Coast Legends tour, which is targeting an older demographic. That tour would begin in July.
The venture came together through a relationship between Idol Makerz Entertainment CEO Mickey Bentson and Eric B., according to Bentson.
"Me and Eric B go back as far as Pro Keds, way before the Air Jordans," Bentson told MP3.com. "This tour is going to show people why hip-hop isn't dead."
Both tours are being produced by Shakim Compere, Pay Up Management, Idol Makerz' Jordy Nivar, Marc Live, Al B., Flex Cabrera, and Bentson. Idolmakerz was formed last January by veteran hip-hop managers Mickey Bentson and Felix Cabrera. The firm boasts clients that include Ice T, Melle Mel, Tony Sunshine, and Knock Out Crew. Prince is playing in The City tonight...so LostHighway9 presents The Artist and a few of his(former) friends...first up...the man himself dressed as Bryant Gumbel ...from 1997.
Patty Kotero and crew take their turn in the Prince friday videofest with the extended version of "Sex Shooter"!
Underated 80s freestyle band Pretty Poison hit hard with "Nightime".This cut reminds of an old buddy Eusebia, who was way into freestyle.
You want ninjas you say? OK..Here is possibly the only scene in history where the ninja who is losing the battle breaks out a shotgun to even the score....not to mention the STEVE JAMES battle!

OK...Well, Mobb Deeps last CD on G Unit took a brick..but Prodigy comes back hard solo with this Alchemist produced cut.Shit bangs hard off this old Shaft sample. My only question is if Tupac was beefin with these guys back in 1995,why did they sample him for the hook?
Ok...This was THE SHIT in 1989 if you went to club DV8.LFO..with the title track"LFO", which stood for low frequency oscillation....the subs on this were so deep, that only a club with a top notch system could handle it....
This is classic fuckin Pumkins.Shortly after this was filmed, keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin, brother of Wendy and Susannah, from Princes band The Revolution overdosed on heroin. In spite of this tradgedy, the Pumpkins have reformed, and will be playing The Fillmore this summer. One of the great alternative tracks from the mid 90s.
This is my favorite Pac song.To hear it nowadays brings thoughts of my friends who have passed. So,Special LostHighway9 salute to Glenn,Rick,Mark, and Drew, who all left this mortal coil before their time...RIP Homies.
This is a rare clip from the 1984 Bay Area Dance Party tv show that used to air on TV20 back in the day.The school featured is none other than Hogan High in Vallejo.Check out the dude near the end performing "Radioactive".Sources say that it is I, your LostHighway9 host,Cassius.I must say that this is yet another imposter...and not me.Also, look for Lost associate Black Ken at the 2:15 mark.

See,Im not insane...in fact Im kind of rational....When I be askin you, who is more dramatical? This one , that one, the white one or the black one, pick the punk, and I jump up to attack one. KRS ONE is just the guy to lead a crew....RIGHT UP TO YOUR FACE AND DISS YOU!
Super cool song by Tears For Fears before they became famous.I used to listen to this on The Quake 105.3 back when I was a sophomore in high school.
You walked into the room, I just had to laugh
The face you wore was cool, you were a photograph
When it's all too late, it's all too late
I did not have the time, I did not have the nerve
To ask you how you feel, is this what you deserve
When it's all too late, it's all too late
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
And something on your mind became a point of view
I lost your honesty, you lost the life in you
When it's all too late, it's all too late
We walk and talk in time, I walk and talk in two
Where does the end of me become the start of you
When it's all too late, it's all too late
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
What has happened to the friend that I once knew, has he gone away?
When it's all too late, it's all too late
Change…Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
