Looking to show some love to hip-hop's heyday, a New Jersey-based firm has teamed up with one-time Rakim partner Eric B. to launch two tours of old-school artists.
The East Coast version, dubbed The Legends Tour, will feature Big Daddy Kane, Whodini, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and DJ Hot Day, and will be hosted by Dana Dane.
The jaunt is set to kick off in August, with dates and venues to be announced. DJ Quik and Mack 10 will headline a separate West Coast Legends tour, which is targeting an older demographic. That tour would begin in July.
The venture came together through a relationship between Idol Makerz Entertainment CEO Mickey Bentson and Eric B., according to Bentson.
"Me and Eric B go back as far as Pro Keds, way before the Air Jordans," Bentson told MP3.com. "This tour is going to show people why hip-hop isn't dead."
Both tours are being produced by Shakim Compere, Pay Up Management, Idol Makerz' Jordy Nivar, Marc Live, Al B., Flex Cabrera, and Bentson. Idolmakerz was formed last January by veteran hip-hop managers Mickey Bentson and Felix Cabrera. The firm boasts clients that include Ice T, Melle Mel, Tony Sunshine, and Knock Out Crew. I had been wanting to see this for a while.Having gone to art school myself,I thought this would be interesting.It was.It really nails all the pretentious type that are found at art classes.Mix in a little murder mystery,and "Art School Confidential" delivers.
While catching up on my DVDs this week,I got a chance to watch"Hard Candy".This is a pretty good film about a girl and older guy who meet online...and decide to meet in real life.To say that each character has their own agenda would be an understatement. The tension builds to a suspense filled climax.Two Thumbs Up.
I saw this last night..."The GraveDancers" was part of last years Horror Fest 2006, which featured 8 horror films by new talent.This movie was pretty good considering obvious budget constraints.I downloaded it on X Box Live in HD...but you know...it was just so so.
Just saw"The Descent". It is a pretty cool horror flick from Neil Marshall.Story involves these chicks who are into extreme climbing going down into an undiscovered cave system that may or may not be infested with subterranian creatures. I have my own theory as to the actual prescence of monsters in the film.Two Thumbs Up!!!

Ok...This was THE SHIT in 1989 if you went to club DV8.LFO..with the title track"LFO", which stood for low frequency oscillation....the subs on this were so deep, that only a club with a top notch system could handle it....
