I had been hearing a lot about a film maker from Brazil called "Coffin Joe" aka "Ze do Caixao". Over the last couple of weeks IFC has been showing some Grindhouse/Mondo type movies on friday nights,and I got a chance to check out Coffin Joe.
This is a clip from "Tonight I Will Possess Your Corpse". The story revolves around Coffin Joes quest to find the" perfect" woman to bear his child.He goes about this by capturing and torturing local women,all the while espousing some truly bizzare ideas on God, The Devil, Capitalism,and anything else he can think of.
The highlight of the movie has to be an 11 minute sequence in which the earth cracks open,and Joe falls into Hell itself!This is absolutely hilarious, as Joe wanders about, while all manner of unspeakable acts are carried out by ill costumed "demons".
